HTML presentations: one file that opens anywhere
Every DeckLume deck is a single, self-contained HTML file: fonts, images and the presenter controls are inside it. It opens in any modern browser on any device, works offline, never loses its layout to a missing font, and can be shared as a link or sent as one file. DeckLume writes the HTML for you from a brief; you never touch code.
A live DeckLume deck, not a screenshot. Click it and use the arrow keys, or open it full screen (opens in a new tab).
Why HTML is a better format for presentations
- Nothing to install. Every computer, tablet and phone already has a browser.
- It looks the same everywhere. Fonts are embedded, so there are no substitutions and no broken layouts.
- Offline and self-contained. One file, no external requests: it works on a plane and in a locked-down conference room.
- Accessible by design. Real text and headings, keyboard navigation, alt text and reduced motion for those who ask for it.
- Alive. Slides can build step by step and charts can draw themselves, which a PDF can't do.
Presenting from the file
Open the file and you have a presenter built in: arrow keys, space and page keys, swipe on touch screens, a progress bar and slide counter, full screen (F), a presenter view with speaker notes and a timer (P), an overview of every slide (O), a read view for phones (R) and links straight to any slide. Printing gives you a clean handout, and saving as PDF from the print dialog gives you a PDF.
Three ways to share
| Way | Best for |
|---|---|
| A link | Investors, clients, students: add a password and an end date, see how often it was opened, revoke it any time. |
| The HTML file | Email, chat, USB sticks, intranets and offline venues. |
| PowerPoint (.pptx) | Colleagues who will edit it in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides. See the AI PowerPoint generator. |
DeckLume vs reveal.js, Slidev and Marp
reveal.js, Slidev and Marp are excellent open-source tools for people who like writing slides in Markdown or code. DeckLume is for everyone else: you describe the deck, attach your material, and DeckLume writes, designs and compiles the HTML, with your brand and a presenter built in. You get the portability of HTML without writing any.
Safe to open
The HTML is generated by a deterministic compiler, not written freehand by an AI model, and each file carries a strict content security policy. Decks make no network calls of their own, so opening one never sends data anywhere. The security page has the details.
Questions
How do I open an HTML presentation?
Double-click the file. It opens in your browser; use the arrow keys or swipe to move between slides, and F for full screen.
Can I convert the HTML presentation to PDF?
Yes. Open the print dialog in your browser and choose "Save as PDF". The deck has print styles, so each slide becomes a page.
Can I email an HTML presentation?
Yes. It's one file. Decks with many photos are larger; for those, a share link is lighter.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Fonts, images and the presenter are inside the file, so it needs no internet connection.
Can I still get PowerPoint?
Yes. Every deck can also be downloaded as an editable .pptx.
